French Vinaigrette

Low on dressing? Need something fresh and zesty? This is our go-to dressing, that works on any salad combination and can be quickly made from cupboard staples on a moment’s notice.


Ingredients

  • 5 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil

  • 3 Tbsp vinegar of choice

    • Red wine vinegar is our favorite

    • Balsamic works for a bolder taste

    • Apple cider, white wine, rice, or even white distilled vinegar will work, however

  • 1 Tbsp Lemon juice (ideally fresh-squeezed, but bottled will do in a pinch!)

  • 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard (though you can use whatever mustard is in the fridge with pretty good results)

  • 1 tsp diced shallots

    • Garlic is a good substitute (reduce to 1/2 tsp)

    • For a milder flavor, omit this ingredient entirely

  • Salt and pepper, to taste


Directions

  1. Whisk ingredients together until emulsified

  2. Toss salad in dressing
